Director, Lucy Walker (”The Devil’s Playground”) brings us a story of blind mountain climber, Erik Weihenmayer, and blind educator, Sabriye Tenberken, leading six blind teens on a 3-week ascent up Mount Everest. The idea for the expedition came about after Tenberken, who founded Braille Without Borders, the first and only school for the blind in Tibet, wrote an email to Weihenmayer upon hearing the news that he had summitted Mt. Everest in 2001. She had read his book “Touch the Top of the World” to her students and invited him to come to the boarding school to meet them. more…
